Jill Miller is a singer/songwriter and speaker who went into full-time music ministry as a way to touch, encourage and inspire people on life's journey. Through her songs and the stories behind them, she connects with her audiences in a real and honest way. Jill is not afraid to share her own faith struggles, as well as victories, as she presents a professional program.
"I believe that music is one of the most powerful gifts God has given us because it has the ability to touch hearts and lives as nothing else can. I love ministering to open hearts and sharing this God-given gift," says Jill.
Jill released her first single, “Worry,” to national Christian radio in October of 2009, and also released songs from her “Christmas is Here” CD in December of 2009. She was thrilled when her songs were picked up and played by stations across the country. “Worry” is a song that she co-wrote with her producer, Jamie Slocum, who is also an artist on Curb Records. Here’s Jill’s thoughts on the song:
Worry was a title that was on my heart because of all the unrest and uneasiness that’s in the world right now with Wall Street crashing, businesses failing, problems in our schools, and a sense of uncertainty that people are feeling. As I was thinking about all of that, the thing that struck me is that no matter how crazy this world can get, God is still in control and He still deserves our praise. When Job was faced with all of his trials he praised God in the midst of them, and I want to be the kind of Christian that can do that and trust that ultimately everything will work out exactly as God plans. I also realize that worry is a pretty useless emotion. We can worry all we want, but it’s not going to change a thing. As Jesus said in Matthew 6:27: “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” The chorus of Worry says in part, “When my heart is frail your love is all I need, when I fall you carry me, so I’m not gonna worry” which sums up what I think faith is all about.
Highlights from Jill’s career include performing at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. She was thrilled to open for Loretta Lynn in May of 2008 at the beautiful Orpheum Theatre in Sioux City, and Jill has also opened for Brian Littrell (of the Backstreet Boys), performed with the Christian group NewSong, and sang the national anthem for President Bush and 11,000 people when he was in Sioux City.
Whether doing a full-blown concert complete with a band or performing in a smaller, intimate setting with just Jill and her guitar, Jill's songs and ministry will touch you as she tailors her presentation to fit your individual needs.
Jill has three CD projects available for purchase. Her latest CD project, "Christmas is Here" was produced by Curb recording artist Jamie Slocum. Jill and Jamie are currently working on a new project, and she has a pre-release EP that is available at her shows with her newest songs on it.
Jill is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and in January of 2008 she became a regional workshop coordinator for NSAI and started a brand new NSAI chapter in Sioux City. Jill was a top 5 finalist for 2008 Best Country Artist of the year on IndieHeaven, a website for independent Christian artists. Jill travels to Nashville about once a month to further her efforts to make it in the Nashville circles as a songwriter. In April of 2008 Jill was named “Siouxland Woman of the Year” by the Quota Club in honor of her volunteer work in the community.
Jill would love to be a part of your next event!
