Jill had an amazing devotional from Christine Caine’s “quote does your miracle need a miracle?”
“God saw my need, however, and brought each of you into this ministry in sweet and unique ways. I truly cherish each and every one of you! Yet, I have big dreams and big goals and sometimes feel like my miracle needs a miracle!”
Isn’t that the truth, no matter where we are on our walk with God, sometimes we just need God to intervene with our struggles. It can be as little as our children having roommate problems to big decisions about love and life.
Then it comes to me! Yikes! I feel like a carry a multitude of baggage when it comes to what I need to lay down at Jesus’ feet. God says in Matthew 11:28 that he won’t give us any more than we can handle. Yet I want to fly on in and fix my daughter’s issues with her roommate. I want to tell my son he needs to finish his master’s degree. I’d like their life to model mine. Let me take that one back, please! But we do wish for those we love to model what Christ modeled for us.
We are always a work in progress. I take great comfort in that. I do not have things figured out. I will be the first to admit that.
In Lysa TerKeurst’s devotional book, “The Best Yes” we are working on the pages where we will get to know ourselves and others, and be more open with others. The first question asks what would you like others to know about you? I would like you all to know that I am not as strong as you think I am.
I do not have it all together, all the time. Very rarely in fact! I am a Christ-follower learning to walk along side Christ every day. I struggle, I stumble, but I am made in His image, and therefore emulate his Christ-likeness in me.
This again was shown to me yesterday. I was asked to hear the new members’ testimony on how they came to Christ, and how He is working in their lives. I was very humbled by their stories and their struggles. Our church (the body of Christ) is made up of Christ-followers, with their own hang-ups and struggles. Every one of us, every chair has its story, everyone is made in His image. And the journey together makes it all worth it!
Yes, I am finally to my point. Thanks for being on this journey with me! God does have amazing things in store for you, for me and for Jill’s ministry.
