Blog – April 22, 2015
Welcome to my first blog! I’ve been thinking about blogging, praying about blogging, and putting off blogging for a couple of years now. God finally said, “It’s time!” The famous quote, “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today” has finally arrived.
I’m not exactly, 100 percent sure what I will be writing about, but I’m sure it will involve my life and my faith journey. That is what God has asked me to share in my music, in my speaking, and in my first book. I am a huge believer in the power of story. I learn immeasurably more from someone who shares a piece of their story than someone who simply throws facts and ideas at me. I want to get to know people’s hearts, and I love finding out how all of our stories uniquely weave in and out of each other’s stories, especially our stories of faith.
The Bible, the inspired Word of God, is an amazing book of stories…stories of creation, of miracles, of meeting God on the mountaintop and holding on to Him in the valleys, stories of destruction and death and new life through a cross. Jesus used parables, or stories, to do most of his teaching, so I guess that’s a pretty solid model to follow!
In this blog, I will do my best to share with you how the stories and teachings of the bible come to life for me or others that I encounter on my journey, with the hope that they will spark something in you as well. Being a songwriter, I’m sure I will be blogging about the latest song I’m writing from time to time and the story behind it. I can’t help but have music be a part of everything that I do. It’s one of the strongest lifelines I have to my faith and connects me at a deep level with my Heavenly Father.

What exactly is Butterfly Nation, you might be asking? I know this girl is really into butterflies, but what exactly does Butterfly Nation mean? It’s very simple. Butterfly Nation is people made new in Christ, living a brand new life! It’s my dream of believers coming together, regardless of denomination, and sharing the love of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!” Through the power of community, as we let the love and grace we have received through Jesus Christ continue to transform us from the inside out and flow out of us to others, we can be a light in a very dark world. We are all a work in progress, but we are all fearfully and wonderfully made, and we are called to share that awesomeness with others!
